Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) has been found to be an effective strategy in reducing vehicle speeds, reducing collisions resulting in fatalities or serious injuries and reducing the overall number of collisions. It complements the work of police officers, especially when placed in speed-related collision hot spots, in a sustained and equitable way by broadly enforcing safe speed across all road users.
The location of ASE systems are chosen based on a data-driven approach, which includes consideration of speed and collision data. Requests for ASE systems from residents will be taken into consideration. ASE systems within the City of Toronto may only be placed in Community Safety Zones, near Schools.
To submit a request for the consideration of an ASE system in your neighbourhood, please fill in this form. Multiple requests for the same site will not result in a higher prioritization as there are a number of variables in the selection of ASE sites.
